Research GroupsThere are in all three research groups in CAS as follows:
The Census and Data Analysis Research Group The Census and Data Analysis direction based on the Mathematic Statistics Research Office and the Survey Technique Research Center of RUC. This direction focuses on the data's collection and analysis. It takes sampling and survey techniques as the important content. On the one hand, it aims at the most advanced method in the world; on the other hand, it stands on the ground of concrete application. What's more, this direction pays much attention to the new data analysis method, and makes great effort to keep our research of data analysis method up with the international advanced level.This direction of CAS is in lead in China. First, its comprehensive preponderance obvious: currently there are two master conferring points, which are statistics, probability theory and mathematic statistics. This situation that two different master conferring points in one field is unique in China. Secondly, there are planted research fruits: so far over 10 doctors and scores of masters graduated from this direction; we have undertaken many projects form various organizations and over 30 dissertations have been delivered on the foreign periodical. The Economic and Social Statistics Research Group This research direction is the most influential major direction after the Statistics Department of RUC was founded in 1952. In the planned economics period, she transplanted the social economic statistics of Soviet into China and made great contribution to the modernization construction. Many important government officials and famous scholars are her graduates. Since the reform and opening, this direction managed to build active connection between the theory and the practice, enlarge the range of communicating with foreign colleagues and keep breast with the most advanced research approaches. Furthermore, this direction places great emphasis on introducing mathematic statistics method and modern data analysis method. After many years of hard work, a lot of influential scientific attainments have been achieved and stable relationships with the domestic ministries and foreign research organizations have been constructed. The Risk Management and Actuarial Science Research Group The Statistics Department of RUC is the earliest one to set up the direction of risk management and actuary in China and so far is the unique one in China to confer degree from bachelor to doctor. Based on the profound accumulation of statistics knowledge and rich experiences, the Risk Management and Actuarial Science Research Office combined statistics, economy, finance, insurance and actuary all together to study the risk in the finance field, analyze the reason, look for the regularity and evaluate the risk. This office have undertaken many projects from National Fund of Social Science, Education Ministry Fund of Social science, Huo Yingdong Educational Fund, etc. And have gained a high reputation at both home and abroad. This office have also constructed stable relationships with many notable foreign organizations, such as SOA, LOMA, AMP and many famous domestic entities, such as China Securities Regulatory Commission, China Insurance Regulatory Commission, Peoples Bank of China and many banks and insurance companies.
